Updated: Oct 5, 2022

As explained in our newsletter, we are trusting the Lord for an additional $500.00 so that Pastor Désiré Beadoum Beral can complete his Master's Degree in Theology at the FACTEC (The Evangelical Seminary of Cameroon).

Here's how you can give:

Click below to go to the online giving page at First Evangelical Church.

Once there, you will see the giving portal which looks like this:

As indicated, scroll down to Desire Beadoum APT (03-56747) and select as indicated above.

Select "One Time" or "Recurring" (if "recurring," not beyond October 31) and your payment method. Fill out your information and click "Submit Gift."

If you prefer to give by check, send your gift to:

Jim Pendleton

Director of Global Missions

First Evangelical Church

735 Ridge Lake Blvd.

Memphis, Tennessee 38120

Your generous gift will be forward to African Pastoral Training which will appropriately transfer the funds.

Here's an overview of Pastor Désiré's budget for 2022-23:

  • Academic costs: $1520.00

  • Rent (12 months): $110.00 (per month) = $1320.00 for the year

  • Food (12 months): $466.00 per month (for a family of seven) = $5,592 for the year

  • Academic costs for children in school: $1540.00 for the year

  • Weekly travel to seminary and return trip home to Chad in 2023: $1550.00

Total Cost: $11,522.00

Now, here's a pictorial overview to help you better know Pastor Désiré and his family. All of these pictures were taken while I was recently with him in Cameroon.

Behind Pastor Désiré are listed the five principles (values) of the seminary:

  • Intimacy with Christ

  • Excellence

  • Transparency

  • Integrity

  • Responsibility

The Cameroon Faculty of Evangelical Theology was founded by Korean missionaries in the last century. It is now largely run by Cameroonians.

While in Yaoundé, I had the joy of meeting Pastor Désiré's family for the first time. Here is his wife, Virginie.

They live in an apartment about 50 minutes from the seminary. One of the challenges has been making this round trip several times a week.

I was also able to meet his family. Apart from the three older children who are at the nearby university, they live in this small two bedroom apartment.

I'm always amazed by the simple lifestyle of my African colleagues.

They learn to do much with very little. Pastor Désiré's wife, Virginie, crafts various articles for sale in order to supplement their income.

Pastor Désiré has become an excellent preacher, teacher, and communicator of God's Word. Completing his Masters in Theology will contribute greatly to his ongoing ministry with the Thompson Bible Institute as well as his ministry as a pastor.

Thank you for your investment in this ministry which is helping to raise up a new generation of biblical expositors in Africa!
